. How to restrict person to use of Pen drives or any USB connecting devices.

One of the most common problems is the use of Pen drive or any USB plug-in device whaich may be infected by the virus or any other malicious program.
Solution:
In Windows XP, you may restrict to access of Pen drive or any USB plug-in devices by –
  1. Disabling USB Port physically (like fixing cello tape etc.)
  2. Disabling USB Root hub in Device Manager
  3. Disabling USB Port in BIOS program  (This may disable USB mouse etc.)
  4. Disabling USB port access by the Registry setting.
The easiest and effective solution is to disable USB port devices by the Registry settings.

If a USB storage device is already installed on the computer, set the Start value in the following registry key to 4:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor

When you do this, the USB storage device does not work when the user connects the device to the computer.

To set the Start value, follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Start, and then click Run.
Step 2: In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
Step 3: Locate and then click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor
Step 4: In the details pane, double-click Start.
Step 5: In the Value data box, type 4, click Hexadecimal (if it is not already selected), and then click OK.
Note: This method works on only installed USB devices.
