Redirect Virus - TDL3 Variant (alias Alureon)

Have you been infected by the nasty and stubborn "Google Redirect Virus"? Google redirect virus is one of the latest threats on Internet and mainly affects web browsers. It is designed to manipulate google search results. This virus gets installed through a trojan horse and when searching Google, it hides the real google results and shows you advertisements or affiliate links related to that subject. This google redirect virus can also show you false advertisements, popups, redirect you to spam pages, etc. It will not let you search Google and it is a clear indication that you need to protect your computer in future by using a Spyware Remover.
From my experience in trying to remove the virus, NOD, Malwarbytes, HijackThis, CCleaner, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Lavasoft Adaware have been ineffective. Hitman Pro's anti-malware is the way to go!
The first scan will likely report "a possible variant of the tdl3 rootkit detected". You will have an option to delete it and rescan your computer. The next scan should not detect the virus.
